This year Nuggets team has just made becoming the first to arrive at an NBA Finals and on top of it the first one to win it as well. On Monday night the Ball Arena received the Miami Heat for Game 5 of the Finals with the Denver Nuggets missing only one more victory to become champions.
What nobody expected was to have one of the most intense games of the Finals. The Nuggets started losing the match. They weren’t having the best night and this wasn’t what they needed to win. 20 out of the first 22 3-point shots were missed by the Nuggets.
The Denver Nuggets lost the first two quarters and the illusion of a comeback by the Miami Heat was looking more and more possible. However, they managed to clinch it back in the last two quarters. They managed to win by only 7 points with both teams still missing many important opportunities. Jimmy Butler did everything he could to maintain the Heat alive. He managed to score 21 points that night, but it wasn’t enough.
The game ended 89-94 and with the victory the Nuggets became NBA Champions. Nikola Jokic won the Finals MVP. He scored 28 and made 16 rebounds. He became the first player to lead the postseason in points, rebounds, and assists.
