Manchester United have eliminated Barca from the Europa Legue
Manchester United have won their Europa League clash against Barcelona, eliminating the Catalans from all European competitions.
United won 2-1 over Barca giving them the global victory 4-3 and a ticket to the round of 16. This decisive game was played at Old Trafford.
The game started with the parcial victory for Barcelona thanks to a penalty. It was scored by Robert Lewandowski (18′). The game was very back a forth and slowed paced during the first half. The only difference came with the penalty.
Xavi’s side had only one job after the goal and was, at least, maintain the current score. They did for the first half, as Manchester weren’t able to score.
However the second half was a complete different story. Erik ten Hag’s side came much more aggressive and with more rapid side changes. This really took Barca’s defense by surprise.
The ultimate game changer was when Anthony was sent into the playing field. As a result with just several minutes playing he was a key player in their first goal. Fred scored the equalizer after a great pass from Bruno Fernandez (47′). United kept the pressure up and in the 73rd minute Antony himself scored an outstanding goal.
Barca tried to scored their second goal, but the Manchester United defense denied every chance.
United will face Newcastle this Sunday for the Carabao Cup final.
