The first El Clasico of the three we are going to have in 34 days saw victorious a Barcelona that didn’t demonstrate a lot in offense. Madrid were looking to brush off the defeat they had against Barca in La Supercopa final.
Real started to push hard on Barcelona from the start of the game. Karim Benzema had a goal ruled to due to offside. This was one of the few, real opportunities they had of scoring.
It wasn’t shortly after that the only goal of the match happened. At the 26th minute of the first half, after a saved from Courtois, the ball bounced in Militao and ended in the back of the net. This gave the partial victory to Barca for the moment.
Ancelotti’s side wasn’t going to give up and was pushing very hard into the blaugrana’s side. A great performance from Ronald Araujo saved them from conceding any goals. On top of that, it didn’t help Madrid the fact that most of their shots weren’t ending on target of ter Stegen’s goal.
Barcelona had several key figures missing due to injuries. This is the case of Lewandowski, Pedri and Dembele.
