Neymar Jr has an early end to the season

Neymar Jr is set to undergo surgery due to his ankle injury he suffered last month. This is going to probably make him lose the rest of the season.

After the injury he suffered during PSG’s win over Lille 4-3 in February, his health status was still unsure to the public. PSG has now stated that the Brazilian is going to undergo surgery as the problem is bigger than what they initially thought.

It’s really disappointing as he was having a great season. He had 18 goals and 17 assists in just 29 games so far.

Clubs Statement

“Neymar Jr has sustained a number of instances of instability in his right ankle in recent years. Following his latest sprain on 20 February, the Paris Saint-Germain medical staff recommended a ligament repair operation to avoid a major risk of recurrence. All the experts consulted have confirmed this necessity.”

“The surgery will be performed in the next few days at the ASPETAR hospital in Doha.”

“It will take 3 to 4 months before he can return to training with the team.”

With Neymar out, this means Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi are going to be leading PSG’s attack for most or even the rest of the season.

This is still good new for several PSG’s attacker who are looking to show what they are capable of in the field. With Neymar absent it leaves a spot open for them to shine.
