The Bundesliga title race will be decided on the line

After a weekend full of action the Bundesliga title race is going to be fought until the last match with Bayern and Dortmund looking for the crown.

Bayer Munich player seeing their hopes of the Bundesliga title fly away

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are both fighting for this year’s Bundesliga title. Before their latest match, Bayern had 58 points and Dortmund 56. This means they need to have their game on point or else they won’t win the title.

With only 6 games left after this week’s ones, everything is still on the line for both teams.

Bayern Munich’s Game

Bayern came into this match after a disappointing performance against Manchester City in the Champions League. With Thomas Tuchel’s era starting very badly for the club, a victory against Hoffenheim was needed to keep the lead of the table secure.

Bayern started well, they knew what they had to do. Even with this, their attack was being cut before they could shoot. However, Benjamin Pavard only needed one shot to give the lead to his team (17′). Bayern got several other good opportunities during the first half, meanwhile, Hoffenheim wasn’t able to make one single shot.

In the second half, you would of expect a more aggressive Hoffenheim, but that wasn’t the case. They set their controller into “park the boss” mode. This made it hard for Bayern to make many clear plays.

Hoggenheim’s strategy paid off with less than 20 minutes left on the clock. Andrej Karmarić scored a wonder from a free kick shot to tie the game (71′).

The host quickly pushed even more and managed to find the back of the net once more, but it was then disallowed by the VAR.

The match ended 1-1, marking yet another game Thomas Tuchel’s side hasn’t been able to win with only 2 victories in all competitions. On the other hand, Hoffenheim moved to 13th place, avoiding relegation.

Borussia Dortmund’s Game

The Mercedes-Benz arena saw a very thrilling game this past Saturday. WfB Stuttgart and Borussia Dortmund faced off with Dortmund having the opportunity of tying with Bayern with 59 points each.

From the start of the match, both teams presented problems to score the first goal. It wasn’t until Sébastien Haller opened the night after a great assist from Donyell Malen (26′). This didn’t change Stuttgart’s goal hunger. However, Dortmund was able to deny them many good opportunities.

In the 33rd minute, Malen scored the second one for Borussia. How things were looking they were going to be able to win this one easily.

Konstantinos Mavropanos got himself a second yellow card minutes after the second goal and left Stuttgart with one less man and even less hope.

In the second half, Dortmund weren’t very aggressive and even looked overconfident with the current result. Stuttgart made a key change and sent Tanguy Coulibaly to the field. Shortly after he found the back of the net and set the score 1-2 (77′).

With no time to lose, Josha Vagnoman tied the game after taking advantage of a sloppy defense by Dortmund.

Many thought the game was done for it, but little did they know more goals were to come. Gio Reynu gave the lead back to Dortmund in the added time (90′ + 2′), but it didn’t last long. Silas Katompa Mvumpa tied the game one last time (90′ + 7′).
