Real Madrid wins the Supercopa with ease over Barcelona
Real Madrid won their 101st title with a 4-1 victory over Barcelona demonstrating great superiority during the entire game.
On Friday, it was decided the final was going to be another Clasico. As expected the hype was real. Real Madrid came into this match winning the last two clasicos and losing only one game during the entire season. On the other hand, Barcelona came from a very rough season, nothing compared to the previous one.
The match was hosted in the Al-Awwal Stadium, Saudi Arabia, Cristiano Ronaldo’s new home stadium.
A quick goal from Vinicius Jr in the 7th minute started what was set to be a very dominant match for Real Madrid. However, even with an early victory, the team kept on pushing forcing another defensive error from the Catalans and with it, Vinicius managed to score the second (10′).
Robert Lewandowski managed to cut down the score with a great volley leaving the score 2-1 in the 33rd minute. Sadly for him, this didn’t last long since a foul by Ronald Araujo over Vini gave Real Madrid a penalty. Vini himself took the shot and created the third (39′).
The second half was more of the same as Real Madrid continued to dominate the game.
The dominance paid off, and in the 64th minute, Rodrygo converted his well-deserved goal. This is his first-ever goal in Supercopa.
The match continued like this and Barca where unable to surpass their rivals. The whistle was blown and the revenge was completed. Real Madrid made Barcelona suffer the same faith they made them suffer last year.
Next up for both clubs is the round of 16th of the Copa del Rey.
Are Real Madrid going to be able to win more trophies this season? Is Barca capable of reappearing this season?
