Lando Norris took the checkered flag in Miami GP for first F1 win

After 110 tries, Lando Norris wins the Miami Grand Prix over Max Verstappen for his first Formula 1 victory.

Norris who started in P6 after having a decent qualifying on Saturday came into full focus mode for the race. Nonetheless, the man to beat was Max Verstappen who won the Sprint race and the Pole position.

Verstappen had the lead for the first part of the race. He lost it after he made his pit stop and was gaining positions as the cars in front pitted. However, everything changed when Logan Sargent and Kevin Magnussen had an incident that brought the Safty Car out. Lando had +11 seconds over Max and with the help of the SC managed to stay in the lead even after the stop.

From that moment on, Lando Norris started to lead the race and didn’t let anyone pass him or even have a chance. Norris came to win his first F1 victory with reigning champion, Verstappen, 7.6 seconds behind. They were followed by Charles Leclerc who took third place.

Most drivers congratulated Lando on his win during his victory lap, Verstappen, Charles, Carlos Sainz, Lewis Hamilton, and others.

This is McLaren’s first victory since Daniel Ricciardo in 2022 and, how things look, the first of many. Also, Norris had the record for most podium finishes without a victory before this race (15).

During the post-race interviews, Verstappen claimed “If a bad day is P2, then I take it. I’m very happy for Lando, it’s been a long time coming. This isn’t going to be his last one, he deserves it definitely.”

Max still leads the drivers championship by 35 points with 136 points, while Lando made it to fifth place with 83 points.

Won’t this season be as dominant as the last one?
