Real Madrid win their 15th Champions League title at Wembley
Real Madrid have won their 15th Champions League title after beating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 at the iconic Wembley stadium.
Having won LaLiga and the Supercopa, Real Madrid has completed another great season for their history books. Two late goals gave them their 15th UCL and much joy in the last game of the campaign.
Borussia Dortmund, who suffered during all the stages of the tournament came as the underdogs to the final. However, they were already used to that since it was the same story when facing and beating Atletico Madrid and PSG.
Nonetheless, Dortmund came into the first half looking superior. They managed to have several clear chances to score but couldn’t convert any of them. They let the score end 0-0 after the first half.
In the second half, Los Blancos came in better shape and started applying pressure to Borussia Dortmund. After two shots on target, Dani Carvajal scored the first goal of the final (74′). Less than 10 minutes after came Vinicius Junior, almost sealing the victory, and scored the second goal (83′). They went and ended the match 2-0.
This was a very significant match for players in both teams. Borussia Dortmund star, Marco Reus, played his last match for his lifelong team even though it didn’t end how he wanted. On the other hand, this was Toni Kroos’ last professional club match since he announced his retirement after the 2024 Euros. Also, this has become the 6th UCL for Luka Modric, Kroos, Carvajal, and Nacho and the 5th for Carlo Ancelotti as a manager.
Having the 15th in their hands, Real Madrid treasures everyone their place as one of the best clubs of all time in the world.
