Benzema lead Real Madrid to win their first Clasico of the year and booked them a trip to the final round of the Copa del Rey.
Real Madrid came into this match with the expectation of ending Barcelona’s streak of 3 Clasico victories in a row. The first one in the Spanish Supercopa final, the second one in the first leg of Copa del Rey, and the third in their latest La Liga match.
Barcelona came with high hopes of arriving at their second final of the season since they already had a 1-0 lead thanks to the previous leg. With the match being at Spotify Camp Nou they thought everything was going to be under control, but little did they know what awaited them.

Barcelona came with all the cylinders rolling to this match. They were dominating most of the first half. Just as it was coming to an end Barca pressured Madrid, but a great save from Thibaut Courtois ended their attack. This resulted in a quick counterattack from the visitors who managed to score the first goal of the night at the feet of Vinicius (45′ + 1′).
Just as the second half came around Karmi Benzema scored the second goal which gave them the lead in the semifinal. However, this wasn’t enough for Real, they wanted more. Minutes after they were awarded a penalty after a foul of Kesie on Vinicius. Benzema took the shot and scored it (58′).
With this 0-3 lead Real Madrid was already securing a spot in the final, but this didn’t stop them. Just 10 minutes left on the clock. Vinicius Junior made a spectacular pass to Benzema. This positioned him face-to-face with Ter Stagen only. He won the one-on-one and scored the fourth of the night. The match ended 0-4.
Karim’s hat trick is the first a Real Madrid player has made in Camp Nou since Ferenc Puskas in 1963. As well as it is the first four-goal lead win since 1995 in a Clasico.
Madrid passed to the final with a 1-4 (in aggregated) victory and is going to face Osasuna.
