Man United suffered a tie that can cost them the pass to the next face of the Europa League after Sevilla got two own goals in their favor and set the score 2-2.

Manchester United gave up a match that was already in their hands. They gifted Sevilla two own goals that helped them to maintain their hopes of passing. The match that was disputed at Old Trafford only brought bad things for the team since two of their main players left before the final whistle due to injuries.

With the second leg of this quarterfinal clash in Sevilla, Spain United are going to need to prepare very well if they want to pass.

The game started with Man United having the upper hand. They dominated at the beginning of the match and it had results. Marcel Sabitzer scored two goals (14′ and 21′) giving an early win to United.

With the way the match was. going Manchester was thought to have the match in the bag already. The problem came when the players already thought that way too. Most of them started to take their foot off the gas as the first half came to an end. Bruno Fernandes grabbed a yellow card for himself. This will make him lose the next leg, but this wasn’t all. In the 45th minute, Raphaël Varane had to be subbed off due to an injury.

In the restart, things didn’t change that much. Man United was still looking as if the whistle that was blown was the one to end the match and not the one to start the second half. However, Sevilla didn’t lose the opportunity and increased the pressure on Manchester United.

This pressure paid off in the end. With around 10 minutes left on the clock, Sevilla forced the first own goal (84′). Then, Harry Maguire was in his gifting mood and before everything ended scored another own goal to tie the game (92′).

As if things couldn’t get any worse for the home club, Lisandro Martinez had to be escorted out of the pitch by his Argentinian teammates that play in Sevilla due to an injury.

Man United are in serious trouble if both Varane and Martinez’s injuries are severe. We would have to wait and see.
