Barcelona are back to the Champions League quarterfinals
La Masia has done it again and thanks to it Barcelona is once again back in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
For the first time since 2020 and after Lionel Messi’s departure Barcelona has managed to be between the final 8th. After tying with Napoli on the first leg it was time to define the game, this time in Barcelona.
Everyone knew the stakes were high for the Spanish side. However, the ones that took this task were the young ones. Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsí, two of the key figures of the match, played like full-on veterans.
Barca came with all the cylinders ignited from the first moment. The high attack and the great defensive efforts quickly paid off and before the 20th minute the match was already 2-0 from the hand of Fermín Lopez and João Cancelo. Even though Napoli managed to reduce the distance before the first half ended.
In the second half, Napoli came out somewhat stronger but Barcelona, with the help of Robert Lewandowski, sealed the game with the third goal for Barcelona. The match ended 3-1 (4-2 Agg.) to give hope to the Culès.
With his impressive Champions League debut, Cubarsí took home the prize of Man of the Match and the respect of all of his teammates and supporters. He made 61 out of 68 passes with key filtrated passes that led to many of Barcelona’s counter-attacks.
Now, with a spark of hope, Barcelona will try and maintain their good form for the rest of the season. With only 8 points from the leader, Real Madrid, in LaLiga Barcelona will have to win the next Classico if they want to win this year’s league title.
Do you think Barcelona will be able to win the Champions League or LaLiga this season?
