Gavi gets denied to join Barca’s first team

La Liga has rejected Barcelona’s request to sign a new contract with Gavi so he can join the club as a first-team player.

Gavi playing for Barcelona

In September, Gavi agreed on a new deal to extend his contract until 2026. This also included a change of number where he was going to wear the number 6.

The Blaugrana submitted, to La Liga, their paperwork this past Wednesday. They hoped that they were going to be able to register him before the January transfer ended.

Gavi is not the only player with a similar situation in Barcelona’s squad. Ronald Araujo is facing a similar situation. Both player have already agree on deals with the team, but haven’t been able to be register in La Liga. Despite all of this, the two players are hopeful that by this summer they would be able to get registered.

Gerard Pique retirement and the sell of Memphis Depay to Alteltico Madrid weren’t enough to alleviate things. La Liga insisted that even after those transfers they still need to take more actions.

Is Barcelona going to be able to register Gavi in La Liga? If not, what is on the other side of the door for the young Spanish player?
