PSG had to face their rivals Marseille on the final 16, but was served with a ticket out of the competition. Paris, who were missing one of their star players Kylian Mbappé, were out preformed by their rivals during the entire match.

Neymar, who everyone thought wasn’t going to play, didn’t perform at his maximum level. It was announced this Tuesday that Neymar had an ankle knock.

Marseille opened the score board with a penalty goal on the minute 31. Alexis Sánchez was assigned the penalty.

Just before the first half ended, Sergio Ramos scored PSG’s first goal (45+2′). This redeemed his error that conceded their opponent a penalty.

As it happened in the first half, Olympique entered the second half looking superior to the Parisians. All of this efforts were rewarded and they scored their second goal on the hands of Russian Malinovskyi (57′).

PSG tried to scored a second goal, but were denied by the Olympique’s defense.

As the final whistle blowed, Marseille knew exactly what they had just done. They still have a Hugh way to go, but the joy wasn’t contained. “It feels as if we had just won the cup” said an Olympic de Marseille fan.
