Steve Stricker has a spectacular return
After three months, Steve Stricker returned to the playing field and did it by wining the Champions event in Hawaii. Getting a great start to the PGA Tour champions year, Stricker closed this Sunday with a 7-under 65 for a 6-shot victory.
Steve Stricker eased through the competition with a 60 in the second round for a 2-shot lead, and with three birdies in four holes as the competition started. After this nobody was able to come close to him again.
After his victory he stated: “ To win here, I don’t know what kind of game I had coming into this week, but it was pretty good.”
The real battle appeared for second place where no winner was proclaimed.
Steve Alker closed with a 63, Tanigawa with a 66, Mike Weir as well with a 66 and Darren Clarke with a 68, sharing the second place between them all.
