During the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which had to be celebrated in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, an intimacy ban was imposed. Athletes were asked to limit any kind of physical contact only to the necessary. This was to reduce the risks of any infections between the athletes. However, for the 2024 Paris Olympics, this ban will be lifted.

This edition will be celebrated from July 26 to Aug 11. Laurent Michaud, director of the Olympic Village, said they will be stocking the village with 300,00 condoms for the Athletes. He also stated they expect a total of 14,250 residents.

As shocking as it might seem, this condom tradition has been taking place since the 1988 Seoul Olympics. It aims to raise awareness for HIV and AIDS around the globe. Athletes are encouraged to take the condoms back home and give them out in their home country.

Even with the 2020 Tokyo Olympics restrictions, 150,000 condoms were handed to the athletes to keep the campaign going.

The 2024 Paris Olympics are set to be another spectacle of top athletic performance. The Paris Olympic venues will offer a wide range of disciplines like athleticism, swimming, football, and many more.

Do you think athletes should get this amount of condoms at their disposal each Olympic Games?
