Inter Milan crowned themself as Serie A champions once again

After a dominating season, Inter Milan won their 20th Serie A title beating their eternal rival AC Milan in the derby.

Having a very dominating season by Inter in the Serie A it was more a question of when rather than if they will win the league. Inter and Milan both knew the derby would be a deciding moment in that timeline. If Inter managed the victory they secured the trophy right then and there, if not they needed to wait until the next match to secure it.

The atmosphere in the San Siro Stadium was out of this world. Even though Inter where technically the away team for the match the stadium shared by both clubs was a rivalry in itself. After much tension, battles, and red cards for both sides, Inter Milan clinched the victory and the league title. They won 2-1 in a very close match.

There are still 5 matches remaining until the end of the Italian season. However, the 86 points Inter accumulates, 17 clear of Milan, goes to show their dominance this season.

This new league title means they now surpass Milan in overall league titles with 20 while Milan only has 19. This makes them just the second club to have 20 or more league titles in the Serie A and the second one with the right to wear two stars above their shield.

The last league title for Inter Milan was in the 2020-21 season, afterwards, Milan won it in 2021-22 and Napoli last season.

Another milestone was achieved this Monday night but this one was for Inter’s coach, Simone Inzaghi. Even after winning other trophies, this is his first league trophy in his coaching career.
