James needed 36 points to surpass the the record and he achieved it and even went over it. He scored 38 points last night. Abdul-Jabbar had the record with 38,387 points during his NBA career.

The actual Laker player broke the record with only 10 second left of the third quarter. The game was stopped at this moment and a small ceremony took place.

The NBA commissioner, Adam Silver, and the past record holder, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar gave a commemorative ball to LeBron James. He then said some words and was united with his family.

“Thank you to the Laker faithful. You guys are one of a kind, to be able to be in the presence of such a legend and great as Kareem, it’s very humbling.” said LeBron James as he had received his price.

As of the moment, James has 38,390 points. He ended the night with 38 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals.

“I know I can play a couple more years.” said LeBron.

How many more years are we going to see LeBron James play? How many points is he going to score?
