Dominican Republic book Israel a ticket back home
Dominican Republic eliminate Israel from the World Baseball Classic after an incredible win 10-0 this past Tuesday.
The Dominicans have showed that they didn’t come to this tournament to end in the group stage. Even though they had a sloppy start against Venezuela, yesterday the just one against Israel 10-0. As a result, they have a tie for second place with Puerto Rico (2-1).
A great offensive line was showed by the Caribbean team with stellar participations from Juan Soto, Manny Machado and Rafael Devers. Most importantly, who really took the stage were the pitchers. Subsequently only four pitchers were needed to defeat Israel. Roansy Contreras opened the game and only permitted one hit during 2 2/3 innings. He was followed by Génesis Cabrera and Luis Ortiz whom played 1 1/3 and 2 innings respectively.
Game Highlights
We had a great demonstration of what the Dominican Republic are capable of at loanDepot park this past Tuesday. They came with all the motors on into this match. They didn’t loose any time and just in the first inning they opened the scored board. It came thanks to a RBI single from Eloy Jiménez that helped Soto score.
Machado, the Padres’ star, made it 2-0 in the 3rd inning with a home run that traveled 437 feet. He now has managed to score a home run in the past two games. When the score board was 3-0 the Dominicans wanted to end things before expected. In the sixth inning the managed to score 4 runs. 2 of those came from Julio Rodíguez with a two-RBI double and the 2 others came from Machado’s two-run single to the right part of the field.
With the match now 7-0, Robinson Canó, Nelson Cruz and Jean Segura took the stage. In the seventh inning Segura made the last 2 runs, the Dominican Republic needed, and walked the game off.
What await both teams?
For Israel the tournament will come to an end after todays match against Venezuela.
On the other hand, the Dominican Republic is going to face Puerto Rico tonight in the game that will decide who is going to accompany Venezuela to the next stage of the tournament.
