Dominican Republic fall against Venezuela in their opening game
The Dominican Republic fail to win their opening game in the Baseball World Classic. They lost their match against Venezuela 1-5.
Dominican Republic came to this championship as reigning Caribbean Series Champions were they won the final to none other than to Venezuela. The expectations for this game were high since the rivalry this two have trailed from the Caribbean Series is notorious.
The Dominicans opened the game with the first race of the night. This gave many hopes to the players since Venezuela ended the inning with 0 races.
However, Venezuela managed to control the rest of the game. They scored their first race in the second inning. DR were unable to respond in the 3rd inning, but managed to leave the scored board with the tie.
In the fourth inning everything changed. Venezuela managed to scored two more races in the fourth inning putting the game 1-3. Venezuela dominated the Dominican Republic during the rest of the game and managed to score two more races. The first in the sixth inning and the second in the eighth inning.
The game ended 1-5 with the victory for Venezuela.
