Carlos Alcaraz wins the Barcelona Open back-to-back

Carlos Alcaraz has become the first player to win the Barcelona Open back-to-back since Rafael Nadal’s three-year streak (2016-2018).

The 19-year-old Spanish player faced Stefanos Tsitsipas this past Sunday to decide the Barcelona Open champion. Both are great players that have demonstrated the hard work they’ve put into their training during the entire year.

Tsitsipas was looking to win his first trophy of the season and his first trophy in Barcelona. On the other hand, Alcaraz wanted to defend his title and add a third one to this year’s count.

Early in the first set, they were exchanging breaks, but Carlos Alcaraz managed to take the lead sometime after. He stayed dominating the match until the end.

Alcaraz won with straight sets, 6-3 and 6-4, looking very relaxed during the entire game.

Tsitsipas hasn’t been that lucky in Barcelona since all of the three times he has managed to get to the final he lost it. The first two were against Rafael Nadal (2018 and 2021) and now against Carlos.

Then we have the champion, Carlos. He has demonstrated all the stills he has this year. Even with an injury, he has been able to claim three championships: The Buenos Aires Open, the Indian Wells Open, and now the Barcelona Open (nine in his entire career). He has a 10-1 score in Barcelona and is the second one in the ranking, just topped by Novak Djoković.

As per tradition, Carlos Alcaraz jumped into the pool with all the ball kids.
