Jon Rahm wins the Masters Tournament

Jon Rahm wins the Masters Tournament after a 30-hole marathon on Sunday afternoon. Brooks Koepka ended as runner-up.

Jon Rahm with his first Masters Tournament trophy

Rahm started the tournament trailing by 4 shots after a start many will fear at a tournament like this one, but not him. He managed to maintain a high level during the tournament and capitalized on Brooks Koepka’s errors to take the victory by 4 shots. With this victory, he has been promoted to No. 1 in the PGA ranking.

Even though Koepka wasn’t able to win he showed a great performance and became the oldest runner-up in the history of the Masters Tournament.

Jon Rahm became the fourth Spanish player to win the Masters. The winner of the 2021 U.S. Open has obtained his fourth victory of the year, generating $13.24 million with many tournaments still to come.

What really helped Rahm recover was Koepka’s performance in the last round (Sunday). He went 22 consecutive holes without a single birdie. Rahm took advantage of this and by the time Koepka started to step up his game it was too late.

“hard to put it into words obviously we all dream of things like this as players and you try to visualize what it’s going to be like and what it’s going to feel like” Jon Rahm stated during the press conference “never thought I was going to cry if I went in a golf tournament but I got very close. On that 18th hole and a lot of it because of what this means to me and to Spanish golf”
