PSG suspend Messi and closed extension negotiations

PSG has decided to suspend Lionel Messi for two weeks after he made an unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia and missed Monday’s training session.

Messi, alongside his family, made a trip to Saudi Arabia to honor his ambassador deal in the country. He had previously asked for permission but was only authorized if the club managed to win or tie their latest game.

They lost this match 3-1 against Lorient, therefore they had to be present for training on Monday. The Argentinian player didn’t show up because of his trip. The discontent and tension were not absent even between the PSG players.

Due to this, the club has decided to suspend Leo for two weeks without pay. This means that he can’t play or train with the other players during this period. Therefore he will miss the match against Troyes and Ajaccio.

However, this hasn’t been the only consequence this incident brought with it. The contract extension talks have been terminated (per L’Equipe). Meaning Messi will become a free agent at the end of the season.
