Stefanos Tsitsipas has been sent home after been beaten by Aussie Jordan Thompson this past Friday at the BNP Paribas Open.
Tsitsipas, who’s currently ranked No. 2 in the ATP rankings, lost in to Thompson in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open. The match had to be delayed as rain was falling over the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. Once the rain ceased, the hardcourt had to be dried. Some fans jumped to help seed up the process.
Shortly after this the match was up and running. The game was very close between both players. They were giving their all. Stefanos Tsitsipas had his shoulder taped which letted him with a weak backhand. Jordan knew this and was constantly attacking this side to gain the upper hand. The game had three sets in total. The first one was won 7-6 (0) by Jordan, the second one was won by Tsitsipas 4-6, but the third one was won by Jordan again 7-6 (5).
Certainly this was a complete surprise to everyone. The expectations were that Stefanos Tsitsipas was going to beat the currently ranked 87, Jordan Thompson. However Thompson managed to pull the victory through.
Thompson’s victory took 2 hours and 37 minutes in total.
