Manchester City, one step closer to the Treble with FA Cup victory
Manchester City has won the FA Cup with a 2-1 victory over Manchester United and is one step closer to the Treble.
Wembley was host to another FA Cup final. Manchester was destined to have a champion today since both Man City and Man United faced each other. City, that is looking to sign off this incredible season with the Treble. United looking to wash off the recent defeats they have been getting after what looked like a promising season, but didn’t end as they might have expected.
With both teams having one thing in mind, to lift the cup, it was set to be a great match.

The match started, but İlkay Gündoğan didn’t want to wait long. With 13 seconds into the game, he scored an astonishing volley, outside the box, that was impossible to catch for David De Gea. This became the faster goal ever made in a FA Cup final. City continued to dominate as the minutes went by. However, United were given a lifeline. Jack Grealish’s handball was called by the VAR to award a penalty to them. Bruno Fernandes stepped up to take it. With excellent class, he scored it and tied things at Wembley Stadium.
The second half came around and Gündoğan, City’s captain, scored a volley once again and gave the lead back to his team. Manchester City controlled the game from that moment on, but Manchester United was frenetically looking to tie things. They manage to have many close calls but none of them ended in goals.
The match ended and Manchester City got their hand on the FA Cup. With it, they are one step closer to getting the Treble.
Now having their 7th FA Cup Manchester City will be looking to get their first Champions League this upcoming Saturday against Inter in Istanbul.
