UEFA Women’s Nations League has it’s first champions, Spain

The first edition of the UEFA Women’s Nations League saw Spain crown itself as their first champion in history.

Spain came into this tournament months after winning the 2023 World Cup in August. Following that incredible moment Aitana Bonmatí, after a great participation in the World Cup and with Barcelona, went on to win her first Ballon d’Or alongside Lionel Messi.

The World Champions came with a winning mentality from the beginning. They went to put a lot of pressure on France’s defensive line. One after the other the plays, passes, and shots came.

The 2023 Ballon d’Or winner gave the deserved lead to Spain with a ball coming from a key center by Olga Carmona. However, this wasn’t enough to satisfy the monster, and the Spaniards kept pushing.

Almost grasping the first UEFA Women’s Nations League, Spain started the second half with a high pressure on France’s goal. The defensive line could last long and the second goal came with a stunner from Mariona Caldentey to terminate with France’s hopes.

Even with some high pressure from France in the final minutes, the Reds took the victory home with a clean sheet. They demonstrated why they are Champions of the World. Nonetheless, champions of the UEFA Women’s Nations League as well now.
