Carlos Alcaraz wins his second Grand Slam by winning the Wimbledon final against Novak Djokovic after a thrilling match.
Carlos managed to stop the Grand Slam winning streak of Djokovic taking his first Wimbledon title. With this, the young Spaniard has managed to conquer his second Grand Slam title and he managed to do it in less than a year.
The number 1 and 2 seeds gave us a match to remember for this Wimbledon Final. Djokovic managed to pass over Alcaraz in the first set, which ended 6-1. However, Carlos didn’t let this disappoint him and overtook the veteran player in the two following sets 6-7 (6) and 1-6. Djokovic wasn’t very fan of that and tied the game once more by winning the fourth set 6-3. With everything on the line, Carlos Alcaraz managed to surpass Novak Djokovic in the last set by 4-6 to win the Wimbledon title.
This match lasted 4 hours and 42 minutes making it the third longest Wimbledon final in history. As well, at only 20 years, Carlos managed to become the third youngest men’s Wimbledon winner in the Open era.
With this victory, Alcaraz solidified his #1 spot in the ATP ranking, winning only the fourth grass tournament in his professional career.
Novak Djokovic has a new Spanish contrincante. The last time someone managed to beat him in a tiebreaker was Rafael Nadal and now Carlos Alcaraz.
How many more titles is Carlos going to be able to win during his career? Will Djokovic have trouble winning the upcoming titles?
